new beginnings and exciting prospects and stuff about Megan
Soon, very soon, the fantastic Megan will have a fantastic website and blog designed for her by Chris Scott. It will be awesome for Megan to show off how amazing she is. I know that there are loads of people who do makeup so why is Megan so special I hear you ask. She just does amazing work, and is an amazing person. Her attention to detail and her eye for perfect make her amazing to work with. This may sound like just words but they are not. I have worked with other MUA and have seen others working with big name photographers, and she leaves them for dead.
She can create what is needed by the client – bride or commercial client – and make magic happen for the photographer or film director. Working with her on my big and small jobs makes my job so easy. My faces look just perfect. So, watch this space for details of her website.
Other news: I am having coffee with two fab female photographers this week. We are gonna take over the world. We all shoot so different, but all have the passion for what we do. The really cool thing is now, should I have a major crisis and am not able to shoot, I have friends to call on. Also, to stay creative, we all need to have others that are like minded to bounce crazy ideas off, have fun shoots with, play with our craft, and improve on what we do. It can be hard working alone, especially when you have an amazing shoot you want to share or just have another critical but fair eye look at your work.
Not much else new. I have had some amazing weddings lately. I love my fabulous brides and grooms. Thank you to you all for being so fabulous. Without you, who knows what job I would have to do…I know it would suck. I absolutely love what I do, and couldn’t do anything else.
I am also waiting for a call from one of my fab brides who is having a baby…I will be there to capture the moment they enter our world. What a gift. What a joy. See why I love my job!
Natasha and the ramblings of a photographer with no free time
Since moving to Bundaberg I have been blessed with photographing some stunning young women and men who are going places. They have ambition, talent, passion, and are amazing behind the lens of my camera. One of these is Natasha. Watch this space! This young woman is going places. She is a talented dancer, and has a good soul. These are from a shoot that had been in my head for ages. Natasha jumped at the idea and did everything I asked her to do. This is her mom’s wedding dress too. There are loads of shots from this series but I just loved these ones.
It took a while for me to have some time to work on them, and there are still more to come.
And do you every have one of those days when you go backwards and actually feel like you never leave your room. I am soooo having one of those days today.
News: I also have taken on a fab little apprentice. I guess I shouldn’t call her little. She is a fantastic year 12 student who I hope to have with me when I shoot weddings once I have eased her into working with me. ALso, another one of my fabulous models is studying to be a makeup artist and my fabulous Megan is taking her under her wing so get ready for some crazy shoots for fun on my site and Megans.
Yes: Megan will soon have her own fabulous website showing off why she is so fabulous – from her days before here up to her Now stuff. I tell you people, she is amazing!!!!! Love her work.

Toowoomba and JW
Before my mum passed away she would talk about her big move back to her homeland of Australia from New Zealand. She would talk about all the things she was going to be able to do. Hang out with her beautiful great granddaughter Dusty, eat Mangoes, swim, relax and enjoy retirement. She had survived breast cancer and a mastectomy, and never let it stop her from lending a helping hand to any one.
She was sad to be leaving NZ and her sisters, but the joys of taking Dusty shopping, and making her cute dresses kept her going. That never came to be, as she passed away just a few days before the move. Mum also loved music, especially country music. When I lived in the USA, a dear friend of mine was producing/engineering Don Williams. Don called my mum from the studio just to say hi. That was one of her special moments. Her love of country music also made her love Aussie country artists. She loved John Williamson, and the songs that made her feel very Australian.
Last week, a few days after the anniversary of my mums passing, I met John Williamson and photographed him. Mum, this ones for you xx
Little L and C and some fun we had…
I had the joy to shoot 2 little boys in Maryborough yesterday. Their mummy and daddy came too but it was all about puddles and mess and rain and trains. One of the boys was a bit serious but we discovered today that he is a bit under the weather so it is understandable that he wasn’t in the mood too much to play. (though the puddles made him smile.) The puddle shots will be loaded later. These are just a couple of teasers. Not all are done antiqued but these ones spoke to me for this treatment.

charlotte
Charlotte was part of the wedding party at V&B’s wedding. She was so funny, every time she saw me coming with the camera she would run off. She was in loads of the shots as she wanted to stay close to mum, and I wanted to get some gorgeous shots of her pretty designer collar …but she had other ideas. This one was at the very end of the wedding when a family friend picked her up and she couldn’t run away from me. There are others but I liked her attitude on this one.
B&V
I havent got much time this week to do a lot of blog posting. I have had shoots pretty much every day, but I wanted share another B&V
The harley and the dancer
This was such a fun shoot. I still have heaps to finish up. I wish I had more hours in the day or there were more days on the week lol

I love my job.
One of my beautiful brides was in town for easter and did a makeup lesson with my fab MUA Megan. The girls had fun and I had fun shooting the steps. And as usual I cant help but play with my work. teehee
Learner wings
Used a fab background designed by Cybrea. Just a bit of fun….
another experiment for fun and nothing more…
no excuses…I was in the mood to play with some stuff and I found some things and put them together and I am not perfectly happy with it but I only had about 45 minutes so not much time for detail…just for fun
workshop
Yesterday my fab makeup artist and I lead a workshop for our local photographic group. I was a little nervous, but it all seemed to run smoothly and my beautiful models Tayla and Nadia worked like trained models infront of 25 strangers with cameras. They were troopers and put up with uncomfortable hot outfits and wild hair to help the participants get some amazing shots. Then we headed to the local High School where we played with one of the shots from one of the group and I showed them a few PS tricks. Thanks to the following: the fabulous team at Lifestyle Solutions for allowing us to use their building at short notice, and Kepnock HIgh for teh computer Lab and fabulous Katrina Holtz for being my on hand assistant and prop getter. She was fabulous and I think I ran her ragged.
dancers know how to stand…
and how to move and they look beautiful. here is another shoot of Natasha this morning.
Help-Portrait Photographer….
Help Portrait is a movement of photographers who are using their time, equipment and expertise to give back to those who are less fortunate and I am now one of them. 2010 – the year for giving back.
How it works:
1: FIND SOMEONE IN NEED
2: TAKE THE PICTURE
3:PRINT THEIR PICTURE
4:DELIVER THE PORTRAITS
SIMPLE. SO WHO TO? ANYONE IN NEED THAT COULD NOT AFFORD TO GET THEIR PHOTO TAKEN OR A CHILD IN HOSPITAL OR A HOMELESS PERSON OR FAMILY.
